Officers reported they were notified by a individual who discovered a vehicle in Hanau smeared with reddish liquid

Roughly fifty cars have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were defaced, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a statement.

Police report they were contacted late on Wednesday, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.

The substance had been placed in the form of a swastika, they reported.

Police then located numerous other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are banned in Germany under regulations outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Officials state initial examinations show the substance was most likely human blood.

"Currently there is no lead as to where it came from; authorities are presently not aware of any injuries in relation with the occurrence," they added.

Local authorities stated they were trying "to solve the case" and have asked to the public for information.

An important official said the attack left him stunned and required to be addressed rapidly.

"This event hits the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he posted on online, referring to the murder of nine people by a shooter targeting people of foreign heritage in five years prior.
